Wing Foiling Exciting Trend?
Advanced riders are using down wind boards, especially in light wind. They are longer 6 to 8 feet long and narrower 17 to 21 inches wide and have forward mounted foil mounting boxes so you can stand further forward. Down wind wing foil boards require more balance. But in light wind they are the only boards up on foil at 6 MPH. compared to conventional wing boards. Most wing boards are 5′ 4 to 6″ long and 27″ to 30″ inches wide.
Conventional wing foil boards are shorter and wider. This really helps with balance. The larger sizes are really helpful when learning how to get started with the wing. Larger sizes also get up on a plane quicker than really small ones in lighter wind. When learning to jibe a little bigger board will prevent you from having a full crash when you miss the foil jibe.
